Flood Update #1
Updated: Feb 24
It’s been a fortnight since the flooding at the Dovecote and we still don’t have any real answers as to why gallons of water came through so fast and rose so quickly.
There is still much rumour as to what South East water did or did not do up at Pembury reservoir and answers would be appreciated so we can have some confidence that it was a one-off event. Our hearts and sympathy go out to all the homeowners in Capel and Five Oak Green who were also flooded out and we hope that you are all getting back to normal as quickly as possible.
Thanks for all the kind words and support that we have received in person and via the various social media channels, it is really appreciated and lets us know that it is worthwhile carrying on.
Sadly, it’s going to be a while before The Dovecote is up and running. We had a foot of dirty water throughout the whole of the building over night that Sunday night. There was damage to flooring, woodwork, carpets, furniture, electrics, fridges, freezer, coolers and dispensing equipment.
We now have to strip everything out, dry out, clean up and then sanitise the building before we can start repairing, decorating and refitting. It’s going to be a long job which is complicated by various insurers and other involved parties that all need managing and coordinating.
Keep an eye on social media for progress and updates and we hope to see you all again soon.
